December
The prize goes north, Brussels gets its Pompidou, and everyone else gets on a plane to Miami.
Middlesbrough hosts the Turner Prize announcement on the 10th, the first at MIMA. KANAL opened on the canal in Brussels at the end of November and spends December as the new building everyone has an opinion on. Miami happens, as it does.
Turner Prize 2026
Simeon Barclay, Kira Freije, Marguerite Humeau, Tanoa Sasraku
The winner is announced at MIMA on 10 December. Four rooms: Barclay's spoken-word Ruin, Freije's metal and fabric figures with cast stone faces, Humeau's Torches with its aged walnut and wasp venom, Sasraku's Morale Patch on the politics of oil. The exhibition itself runs free until the end of March. The £25,000 is decided by a jury Alex Farquharson chairs.
